Expense Man

Introduction

Expense Man is a simple, powerful, and completely private expense tracker for Android. We built this app with one core belief: your financial data belongs to you and nobody else.

This Privacy Policy explains exactly how we handle (or rather, do not handle) your data. It applies to the Expense Man Android application.

Information We Collect

We collect nothing.

Expense Man is a fully offline-first application. All expenses, income, budgets, categories, goals, and settings you create are stored exclusively on your device using secure local storage.

We do not collect or store:

• Name, email, phone number, or any contact information
• Location data
• Device ID or advertising ID
• Usage analytics or crash reports sent to us
• Any financial account credentials or bank details

Data Storage & Encryption

Your data never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to create a backup. Local storage uses Android's secure storage mechanisms and is protected by your device's lock screen.

Google Drive Backup (Optional)

You may optionally back up your data to Google Drive. When you enable this feature:

• Requests only the https://www.googleapis.com/ auth/drive.appdata scope
• All data encrypted on-device with AES-256 before upload
• Saved only in app's private Application Data Folder
• App cannot access your other Google Drive files
• No data shared with us or any third party

Even Google cannot read your backup files because they are encrypted by the app before leaving your phone.

Revoke access anytime: Google Account → Security → Third-party apps.

Data Transmission

The only time data leaves your device is when you manually tap "Backup" or "Restore". No automatic transmission, no background sync, no telemetry.

Data Sharing & Third Parties

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share any data. Only third-party service: Google Drive API (optional backup feature you control).

Security

• All local data protected by Android's security model
• Backups encrypted with AES-256 before upload
• All communication uses HTTPS
• No servers — nothing to hack

Your Rights & Control

You have complete control:

• Delete any or all entries from within the app
• Export data as CSV anytime
• Disable/revoke Google Drive backup access
• Uninstall app — all local data permanently removed

Children's Privacy

Expense Man is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

Material changes will update the "Last Updated" date and notify you in-app. Continued use constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
